Report on the results of work in 2021

The activity of the Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education (CPPO) in 2021 was focused on planning, organizing, and monitoring educational activities for the training of masters; training and retraining of specialists in vocational education; organization and conduct of courses of various professional orientations for training and qualification improvement of specialists, as well as certifications, seminars, consultations, etc. (with direct organization based on CPPO and other structural units of SumDU); development of work plans and programs based on typical curricula and programs; search for innovative projects for providing educational services, taking into account the needs of the labor market and the orders of enterprises, institutions, and organizations; implementation of professional training for the population in the established order, as well as involvement of departments and centers providing adult education services in these projects.

I Professional Development of Employees of Enterprises and Organizations at SumDU

The Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education of SumDU continues fruitful cooperation with the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service in improving the qualifications of civil servants at the expense of state funding. In 2021, a competition was announced for 22 directions of qualification improvement, and Sumy State University, through participation in the competitive selection from the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service, received an order for the qualification improvement of civil servants totaling 3890 persons in 21 directions (in 2020, they received a state order for 9 directions out of 11).

The Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education continues its activities on the qualification improvement of civil servants at the expense of funds from individuals and legal entities for 608 listeners.

Also, in 2021, as in 2019, qualification improvement was conducted for “Lifeguard” with a total of 9 persons.

The Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education, together with the Department of Criminal Law Disciplines and Judicial Practice, continues the training of qualified workers in the profession of “Security Guard.” In 2021, 10 people received this profession, 7 of whom are students of Sumy State University.

In 2021, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” and the Procedure for conducting exams in the proficiency level of the state language, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 14, 2021, No. 409, Sumy State University received the status of a specially authorized institution (organization) conducting an exam in the proficiency level of the state language.

Together with the Department of Journalism and Philology, which involved 5 teachers as examiners, the Center for Professional and Postgraduate Education organized support for exams in the proficiency level of the state language, where 3 employees of the center are involved as instructors.

From July 16 to December 20, 2021, more than 1.5 thousand people passed the exam to determine the proficiency level of the state language at Sumy State University.

II Self-education

In 2021, the SumDU driving school completed training courses for category “B” drivers for 187 people (8 groups), practically at the level of the 2020 indicator (10 people less). In fact, in 2021, 200 people were enrolled in training, but 13 people were expelled due to a lack of desire to study online.

In 2021, cooperation continued with the Department of Social Protection of the Population of the Sumy City Council for the training of drivers who are participants in the ATO (Anti-Terrorist Operation) courses, totaling 30 people (1 group).

When analyzing the contingent (listeners from the students of SumDU and external ones), the SumDU driving school is in demand among the city’s population. In 2021, the volume of the external contingent increased by 1.2 times and amounted to 122 people out of 187 (3 people more than in 2020 – 119 people).

III Master’s Programs

In 2021, training of masters continues at the CPPO based on educational and professional programs “Management and Administration in Healthcare” and “Public Service” in the specialty 281 “Public Administration and Administration.” As a result of two stages of the admission campaign for training in the educational program “Management and Administration in Healthcare” at the expense of individuals and legal entities, 21 listeners were enrolled (which is 12 listeners less compared to the previous year (32 persons in 2020).

This year, funding was received from the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service for the training of masters in absentia in the direction of 281 “Public Administration and Administration” of the educational and professional program “Public Service” for 8 persons (which is 4.5 times less than the indicator of 2020).

As a result of entrance exams in 2021, 13 people were enrolled in training (8 people – at the expense of the state contract and 5 people – at the expense of individuals and legal entities). The reduction in the contingent is due to the introduction of mandatory passing of the Unified Entrance Examination in a foreign language (EEE) (bringing the decision of the CMU dated July 29, 2009, No. 789 in line with the regulatory framework of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine).

Among the contingent of 2021, 13 people are from Sumy (which is 22 people less than in 2020 (35 people). As a result of the admission campaign, 1 group was formed in Sumy (in 2020 – 2 groups in Sumy and Konotop).

IV Paid Services of Educational Centers and Structural Units of SumDU

In 2021, the number of educational centers and structural units of SumDU providing additional paid educational services throughout the year was 37, which is 7.5% less than in 2020 (40). The contingent of persons provided with paid educational services by educational centers and structural units of SumDU in 2021 is 7,945 persons, of which 99.9% of listeners do not study at the university on a regular basis (2020 – 5,415 persons; 84% – non-students of SumDU).
